Effect of Polystyrene Sulfonic Acid Dopants on Polymerization Rate of EDOT (126213-50-1)

2014-08-07 来源:亚科官网
In the process of EDOT polymerization, sodium polystyrene sulfonate acts as a template, and EDOT molecules are adsorbed on the sodium polystyrene sulfonate chain, so that PEDOT is water-dispersible and has enhanced stability. n(EDOT):n((NH4)2S2O8):n(Fe2(SO4)3)=1:1.5:0.002 at a reaction temperature of 30°C, examine the effect of PSS on EDOT polymerization rate, the results shown in Fig. 4. Fig.4 shows that the more the amount of PSS, the slower the EDOT polymerization rate. This is because when the amount of EDOT is constant, the increase of the amount of PSS is equivalent to the increase of sulfonate in the system, resulting in the larger distance between the adsorbed adjacent EDOT molecules, and the oxidative polymerization is difficult because of the decrease of EDOT reaction rate. When the amount of PSS is low, as shown in Fig. 4, the polymerization rate of EDOT is very fast, but the PEDOT aqueous dispersion is easy to settle and unstable. Therefore, when m(EDOT):m(PSS)=1:3, the reaction time is appropriate and the stability of the aqueous dispersion is the best.
It can be seen from the above experiment that at the reaction temperature of 30°C, n(EDOT):n((NH4)2S2O8):n(Fe2(SO4)3)=1:1.5:0.002, m(EDOT):m(PSS)=1:3, it is more suitable for the preparation of PEDOT.
Conclusion: Templates and dopants also have an influence on the EDOT polymerization rate. The greater the amount of PSS homopolymer, the slower the EDOT polymerization rate and the more stable the aqueous PEDOT dispersion. With the same amount of PSS and acrylic acid vinegar copolymer as a template, the corresponding EDOT polymerization rate is greater than the PSS homopolymer as a template and dopant, and the more the comonomer content, the slower the EDOT polymerization rate.
