Development and prospect of domestic IVD market
In vitro diagnosis (IVD) refers to a diagnostic method that takes samples (blood, body fluids, tissues, etc.) from the human body and then detects them to determine disease or body function. It involves molecular biology, genetic diagnostics, and translational medicine.
In recent years, the IVD industry has shown a rapid development. In 2018, the global IVD market size was about 68 billion dollars, and the domestic IVD market size was about 600.4 billion yuan, an increase of 18.43% year-on-year. It is predicted that the annual growth rate of more than 15% will be maintained within 10 years. China has become one of the fastest growing IVD markets in the world.
The IVD global market structure is highly concentrated. The five major companies Roche, Abbott, Danaher, Siemens and Thermo Fisheries accounted for 57% of the global market in 2017, and also accounted for more than 56% of the domestic market。
Among 1200 IVD enterprises in China, Mindray medical accounts for the largest proportion, but only about 3.1%.
However, from 2012 to 2017, more and more domestic enterprises gradually increased their market share, and future domestic substitution is a great opportunity.
At present, most of the domestic low-end technology areas of China's IVD industry have achieved localization, such as enzyme-linked immunoassay technology and clinical biochemical diagnostic technology.and the molecular diagnostic technology that shined in the epidemic also reflects the innovation spirit and R & D strength of domestic enterprises.
With the growth of China's scientific and technological level, the country's strong support for independent innovation, and the increased investment in R & D funds by various companies, the domestic IVD field has maintained steady growth.
In the future, China's IVD industry will gradually complete import substitution and gradually open up to Europe and the United States. The market and development space are worth looking forward to.
