Indole -3- carbinol (700-06-1) effect on the sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate induced acute toxicity in mice and sperm deformity rate
Objective: to determine sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate (also known as sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate) median lethal dose LD50, and to understand the effect of indole -3- carbinol and formaldehyde in mice of sperm deformity of rongalite inLD50.
Methods: using improved Karber's method determination of sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate LD50 and combined application of indole -3- carbinol andformaldehyde and continue to give indole -3- carbinol, LD50 of sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate and sperm abnormality changes.
Results: sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate in NIH mice by gavage of LD508711mg/kg · BW, combined application of indole -3- carbinol and formaldehydecan reduce the acute toxicity of formaldehyde (LD50 10000mg/kg BW) (P0.05),and significantly reduce the occurrence of sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylateinduced sperm malformation (P0.05).
Conclusion: according to the national standard of evaluation, formaldehydetoxicity classification belongs to actually non-toxic; indole -3- carbinol continuous intake of certain concentration can effectively reduce the acute toxicity of sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, and on sperm deformities caused by low dose sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate has a preventive effect.
