Production method and use of strontium chloride

2019-04-18 来源:亚科官网

strontium chloride, also known as strontium dichloride, is a colorless, transparent crystal or granule with a bitter taste. The CAS number is 10476-85-4, the molecular formula is SrCl2, and the molecular weight is 158.53. Strontium chloride is a raw material for the production of strontium salts and pigments, and is used for the manufacture of pyrotechnics, a flux of electrolytic metal sodium, and a catalyst for organic synthesis.
Method for producing strontium chloride
The hydrochloric acid method first pulverizes the lapis lazuli to 200 mesh, then added to the reactor and stirred with water, and then slowly adds industrial hydrochloric acid, and is stirred by steam to remove impurities such as calcium salts. It is then decanted and washed to neutrality. The washed slurry is stirred with water, then added with soda ash, heated by steam to form cesium carbonate, washed with water to neutrality, washed with sodium sulfate and unreacted soda ash, and then added with hydrochloric acid for acid hydrolysis reaction. The endpoint control solution pH 4~5. In the case of heating near boiling, 10% dilute sulfuric acid and 30% hydrogen peroxide were added to remove soluble strontium salts and iron. The clarified solution was filtered, concentrated by evaporation to 42 to 43 °Bé, cooled, crystallized, centrifuged, and dried at 220 to 250 °C to obtain anhydrous cesium chloride. Its equation is:
SrSO4+Na2CO3→SrCO3+Na2SO4
SrCO3+2HCl→SrC12+H2O+CO2
Use of strontium chloride
Strontium chloride is occasionally used as a red colorant for pyrotechnics. A small amount of strontium chloride is also added to the glass manufacturing and metallurgy. The radioisotope strontium-89 is used to treat bone cancer, usually in the form of strontium chloride. Seawater aquariums require a small amount of strontium chloride to provide some plankton to produce exoskeletons. It can also be used in the manufacture of pyrotechnics, electrolytic sodium metal fluxes, and organic synthesis catalysts.
