Application of HEPES|CAS 7365-45-9| in Cosmetics

HEPES is a zwitterionic buffer, belonging to good's buffer, with pKa 7.45 at 25℃ and pH buffer range of 6.8-8.2, which can balance the acidic substances in cosmetic solutions; as an active agent, the anti-aging effect of the product lasts for a long time ; As a peeling agent, it softens keratin and promotes cell metabolism; as a penetration enhancer, it promotes the transdermal absorption of various functional components in cosmetics.

CN110913830A introduces a cosmetic composition based on short-term and long-term treatment of wrinkles, the composition mainly includes an oil phase and a polyol phase, wherein the oil phase includes polysiloxane-11, dimethicone, a mixture of dimethicone crosspolymer and cetyl peg/ppg-10/1 dimethicone，ethylhexyl palmitate and hyaluronic acid derivatives. The polyol phase consists of soluble ascorbic acid, soluble ascorbyl glucoside, propylene glycol, glycerol and HEPES. The method for preparing the cosmetic composition is as follows:

1. By mixing polysiloxane-11, dimethicone, a mixture of dimethicone crosspolymer and cetyl peg/ppg-10/1 dimethicone, ethylhexyl palmitate and hyaluronic acid derivatives to prepare an oily phase.

2. Prepare the polyol phase by heating and dissolving ascorbic acid, ascorbyl glucoside, propylene glycol, glycerol and HEPES at 85℃.

3. Cooling the polyol phase.

4. Mix the oil phase and the polyol phase.

5. To the mixture of oil phase and polyol phase was added ulmus glabrata greenwood bark extract.

HEPES is rated as 1 by the US EWG (Environmental Working Group), which is a green grade safe ingredient. Safe to human body, non-toxic, good physiological compatibility, very stable chemical properties. Compared with azone-type penetration enhancers, it has the characteristics of short onset time, less dosage and high penetration rate.
